Allowing Third Party Cookies for Kaltura

When attempting to access Kaltura from the Media Gallery in Canvas, you may get the following error:

“It seems your browser is blocking 3rd party session cookies which are required for the Kaltura application. To resolve this issue, please update your settings to allow 3rd party cookies.”



This article will contain a solution for this problem in Google Chrome, the recommended browser while using Canvas.



Solution for Chrome


1.  Open Chrome and click on the three dots in the upper right corner.

 

2. Click Settings.

3. On the left side pane, select Privacy and security. If you do not see this side pane, you may need to click on the menu button in the top left corner.

4. Under Privacy and security, select Site settings.

5. Under Content, select Cookies and site data.

6. Select the option for Block third-party cookies. For security reasons, this is recommended over allowing all cookies.

7. Scroll down to Sites that can always use cookies and click Add.

8. Type [*.]kaltura.com in the text box and click Add.

9. Go back to the Canvas page and click refresh  in the top left corner of Chrome. You should now be able to view the content from Kaltura.
