How to Use a Document Camera

This guide will show how to use a document camera that is attached to a classroom PC in Rockwell Hall and Rockwell West.

There are not a document camera installed in every classroom; if you require a document camera, please contact the College of Business IT Helpdesk (help@colostate.edu).



How to use a Solo8 document camera:


1. Make sure the document camera is connected to one of the podium PC’s USB port.

 

2. If the document camera is folded, extend it so it resembles the image below. The lens should be pointing straight down.


 

3. Place your document on the surface beneath the camera.

 

4. Open the HoverCam Flex11 application on the podium PC. A shortcut for it should be located on the desktop. (If you are using your personal device and need assistance installing this software, please contact IT support.)

5. The application will open and show you the view from the document camera.


At the bottom of the window are a variety of tools and settings that can be adjusted, including Whiteboard mode, zoom, focus, recording, and others.

 

6. At the base of the document camera are several buttons you can use to adjust the camera.

  • AF: autofocus
  • AF-L: lock the focus
  • Zoom +: zoom in
  • Zoom -: zoom out
  • 180: Rotate the image’s orientation 180°


 

7. If you wish to illuminate your document, there are built-in lights that can be controlled using the buttons near the top of the document camera.


 

8. To share with the class, make sure the window with the HoverCam Flex11 application is moved to whichever screen you are presenting to the class using the podium’s touch panel.
