Off-Campus Network Access
- Secure remote access to the CSU network is provided by the GlobalProtect secure gateway (also called SSL VPN).
- For security reasons, many of the resources on the CSU network are blocked from the Internet at the border router. CSU faculty, staff, students, and associates may gain access to these blocked resources by connecting using the Secure Gateway. For More information on Remote Access.
Once you install GlobalProtect, we encourage users to Disconnect from it when it is no longer needed. If a GlobalProtect connection is started, and the user later puts their device to Sleep without disconnecting GlobalProtect, then GlobalProtect will attempt to reconnect over and over when it regains a network connection.
Installing and Connecting for the first time
- Navigate to the go to Gateway.colostate.edu and login with your [email protected] & Password.
- Click download the Global Protect Agent

- Select the version you want to install for your system.
- Choose the correct version. The Windows 32 bit GlobalProtect agent cannot be installed on a 64 bit system.
- If you required a version for an ARM-based (Snapdragon) PC, please visit this article.
- Open the GlobalProtect installation file and follow the steps to install the desktop client. If you do not see the file, navigate to your system’s Downloads folder.
- Click “Next” through each step of the installation.
- Close the installer when the application has been successfully installed.
- The client login will launch automatically. For the portal address, please use gateway.colostate.edu
- Once installation is complete,
- GlobalProtect will appear in the lower left area of your system tray.
- GlobalProtect will automatically prompt you to connect to VPN.
Connect to GlobalProtect
- Click the GlobalProtect icon in the system tray, then click Connect.
- When prompted, enter your [email protected] and NetID password, then confirm your identity with Duo multi-factor authentication. You will then be connected to GlobalProtect.
- To disconnect, click the GlobalProtect icon again, then click Disconnect.
