What is Windows ARM
Windows ARM, also known as Windows on ARM, is a version of the Windows operating system designed to run on ARM architecture processors, offering improved battery life and connectivity for portable devices. To determine if you are on a Windows ARM machine, please do the following:
- Open Start.
- Search for System Information and click the top result to open the app.
- Click on System Summary.
- Under the Item column, check the “System Type” information. If it reads “X64-based PC,” you have a 64-bit processor, if it reads "X86-based PC" you have 32-Bit. If it reads “ARM-based PC” then you have an ARM64-based processor.

Please note
Once you install GlobalProtect, we encourage users to Disconnect from it when it is no longer needed. If a GlobalProtect connection is started, and the user later puts their device to Sleep without disconnecting GlobalProtect, then GlobalProtect will attempt to reconnect over and over when it regains a network connection.
Installation and Connecting for the first time
- Navigate to the Windows ARM download link below.
- Download the file and then right click and choose the Extract option.
- Open the new unzipped folder and double click the GlobalProtectARM64-6.2.8-c263.msi file.
- Now follow the steps to install the desktop client.
- Click “Next” through each step of the installation.
- Close the installer when the application has been successfully installed.
- The client login will launch automatically. Enter the portal address gateway.colostate.edu if needed and click “Connect”.
